Projects

I really love experimenting with social media and collaborative technologies. This page contains links and descriptions of my many virtual exploits.

SoccerNYC.org: This is my true labor of love. I started this project in November of 2007 and easy to say running this website has taken over my life. It is a Drupal powered community site about soccer in the city featuring: pickups, leagues, gear, pubs that show soccer and a mailing list. The community is currently 500 users and growing.

Are you a Soccer Field?: Springtime in the city is hard on a soccer player, lots of people want to play and there are not enough places to play. So in honor of this seasonal frustration I created this Google Map. The map contains placemarks on every bit of turf, grass or dirt I could find in the five boroughs (the Bronx is still under construction). So now you can go find yourself another patch of grass!

About me:

Metadata and Taxonomies are my thing. I spend an awful lot of time drinking coffee and having existential dilemmas on how to categorize myself. I like technology and humans, but only at the same time (HCI). You can find me out in the real world picking locks (only ones that belong to me), watching Doctor Who or playing soccer.

Nerdy things I blog about for other nerds: metadata and taxonomies, digital asset management (DAM), technology transitions and business change, professional development, social media privacy, and usability for information retrieval.
